In September 2003 Jeff and I made a decision to buy a home in the sun. Northern Cyprus is the place we chose. We felt that politically things were changing for the better, the climate is good, the scenery beautiful, the Cypriots charming and there is an English C of E church in Girne (Kyrenia) where we have been made very welcome. The pace of life is still very gentle and relaxed and there were plenty of ex-pats living there enjoying a good life.
Trips out there in recent years had refreshed our memories of 30 years ago, yes, there have been changes but the Cyprus we knew was still there, unlike in the south where tourism has been allowed to develop uncontrolled and spoilt some special places. We decided to purchase some land, west of Kyrenia and have a bungalow built on it. When completed it will have 4 double bedrooms to accommodate all the family plus a swimming pool and gardens. Olive trees surround the site and there will be 5 other bungalows adjacent to us. From the roof top terrace we will be able to see mountains behind us and the sea 600 yards away.
